Contemporary half calf, rubbed, damage to top of spine with slight loss, small marginal stain on pages 234-44. Unusually wide margins, clean pages. Contemporary inscriptions ”OF” on title and ”N° 600” on front pastedown.

Bibliotheca Walleriana 8216. This famous book about ”The Diseases of Children and their Remedies” by paediatric pioneer Nils Rosén von Rosenstein originally appeared as instalments in the Almanacs of the Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1753-71, and in book form in 1764. The present ”third” edition (the second in book form) is important because of its many additions. Among other topics the book includes sections about infant care, infectious diseases and rickets. Rosén von Rosenstein particularly points out the importance of breastfeeding.
