Andreas Alariesto

Andreas Alariesto was born on December 11, 1900 in the village of Riesto in Finland. He was self-taught in painting and was first noticed in the 1970s for his natural talent and his interpretations of Sami traditions, which he not only in pictures but also reproduced in photographs and writing. In his figurative and naive paintings, he depicted life in Lapland through his memories and experiences. The result was a huge production of artistically and ethnologically significant works that today are difficult to compare with anything else. In 1976, Alariesto's first solo exhibition was held at the Helsinki Art Gallery, and in 1986 a public gallery dedicated to his art was inaugurated and is still maintained today by a foundation bearing the artist's name.

Bukowskis presents a collection by Andreas Alariesto of 12 works that have never been for sale before. The collection has belonged to the same family for two generations and was purchased directly by the artist.
