In Bloom

Flowers have traditionally been a central motif throughout art history, and flower painting has captivated art audiences through the ages. The genre is currently in the spotlight with the new public success of the exhibition 'The Garden' at the National Museum in Stockholm, showcasing floral motifs from the Renaissance to the present day.

International artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt, Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt, René Magritte, Salvador Dalí, and Andy Warhol - as well as Swedish artists like Sigrid Hjertén, Isaac Grünewald, Carl Larsson, and Einar Jolin - are among those who have painted classic flower paintings.
Through various styles and techniques, these great artists depict floral motifs in personal ways. Not only beautiful on the surface, but also sensitive and loving, marked by passion and symbolism.

In Bukowskis' vibrant auction - ahead of summer and vacation - floral motifs by Swedish artists such as Claes Eklundh, Owe Zerge, Gerhard Nordström, Erik Jerken, Olle Hjortzberg, Bertil Wahlberg, Eric Cederberg, Jules Schyl, Einar Nerman, Elsa Ström-Ciacelli, Agda Holst, Märtha Bolin Clason, Birgitta Liljebladh, Esther Kjerner, Stina Sunesson, Zoia Krukowska, and many more, are being sold.
