The bronze sculpture Kyrka (Church) was originally placed on the quay below the Kungliga slottet (the Royal Palace) and Storkyrkan ( The Great Church) In other words, as “the church in the village” where the city’s residents and visiting tourists in the densely populated area could see the latest addition to the city's' own art collection.
– “Kyrka" (Church) is a sculpture where the muffled sound of church bells is the motif; if one has a vivid imagination, one can almost hear them, says Ernst Billgren about his work.
Kyrka (Church) was created in 2000, acquired in 2009 for the city by Stockholm Konst, and inaugurated in 2010. In 2012, the work was moved to Nisse's Park in Hökarängen.
The work is cast in bronze, measuring 3.5 meters in length, 2.1 meters in width, and 2.5 meters in height, weighing approximately 3 tons.
