Carved with inlays of silver with intricate patterns. Depicting a standing Shoulao with a staff and holding a peach, dressed in a draped and richly decorated robe. Height 39 cm.

Repairs at the stick. Some inlays are missing. Cracks from dryness of the material.

Shoulao (寿老; 壽老; Shòulǎo) or Shouxing (寿星; 壽星; Shòuxīng) or Jurojin or "The old man from the south pole" is the 'God of Longevity' and one of the three auspicious gods Fu, Lu, and Shou according to Chinese mythology. He is often depicted as an elderly man with a long beard and a high forehead, a symbol of his great wisdom. His attributes are a staff and a peach, representing long life. Shoulao comes from the magical garden of Xi Wangmu, where the fruits of longevity grow in the form of peaches.
