Mrs. Cotton, whom he also painted, gave rise to two (further) etchings, Miss Henop, who later married Mr. Robert T. Tytus, and Miss Lurman are typical society portraits but no less beautiful in their refined play of lines. A series of drawings exists that shows how he worked to achieve the characteristic expression and the assured pose.
