Lars Broberg’s Collection, Part II

In literary circles, one sometimes speaks of “a writer’s writer” – and Lars Broberg could well be described as an "antiques dealer’s antiques dealer". Born in 1939, he began his career in Nyköping in the 1960s, later relocating to premises in Stockholm’s Old Town before eventually opening a shop in Östermalm.

The warmly decorated boutique on Grev Turegatan became a gathering place for all who loved cultural artefacts – a space where even seasoned connoisseurs could discover objects that sparked both delight and desire. Over time, Lars Broberg came to be seen as something of a Nestor in the field, renowned for his discerning eye and his carefully curated selection of antiques and artworks.

Bukowskis is honoured to present The Collection of Lars Broberg. Many of the pieces now offered at auction are museum-worthy in the truest sense of the word – with comparable examples found only in institutional collections. Lars had a deep personal passion for Sweden’s Age of Greatness and the rich splendour of the 17th century, a love clearly reflected in the collection, with a strong emphasis on Baroque and early Rococo from the late 1600s to the second half of the 18th century. He was not guided by the changing tides of trends that so often influence the antiques trade, but instead trusted his own knowledge and eye – always remaining true to the principle that closest to the original is always best.

We invite you to experience a life’s work devoted to the beautiful, the rare, and the sometimes forgotten. Welcome to the world of Lars Broberg.
