BLÅ – A Life Estate H065

A life home - from 400 to 100 sq.m

Bukowskis presents BLÅ – A Life Estate, a private collection of contemporary art and design collected over a long time with joy and love as the common denominator. Highlights in the collection include art and design by, among others, Henryk Stazewski, Maria Miesenberger, Barbro Östlihn and Josef Frank.

From a home in the style of national romantic architecture with deep window niches to a contemporary home with windows from floor to ceiling. From the early 20th century to the present time. After years of collecting the things are now set to now find new homes. To “dödstäda” [death clean] is to clear stuff out before you die, it’s done by living loved ones. For us, it’s time to “life clean” which is so much more than a regular clearing out now that the square metres are less and few things can come along to the new home.

The jumping-off point for daring to buy art was some decorative paintings in the spirit of the times in the early 1970s. The mirrored frames were probably as big a reason for the purchase as the paintings themselves, by the artist Dani van Rauch. The student loan for the last semester in Business Administration came to finance the paintings and the security of the purchase was a repurchase guarantee issued by the gallery. Historically speaking, using the guarantee would probably have been better financially. When the paintings now leave home after more than 50 years, it is with a grateful memory of having dared to buy art.
