Some keep a diary, Sven Erixson painted his life instead. Everything that stirred his love or anger is present in his paintings. It is said that one could point to a figure in his paintings, and he would almost always be able to say who it depicted, often recalling the name or sharing an anecdote about the person. Ulf Linde wrote in connection with an exhibition at the Saltsjöbad studio; “Like all truly great artists, he was truthful and refrained from inventing anything he had not personally experienced. And because he saw more than others, he also managed to experience more; often when one looks at Erixson's paintings, one is struck by how much one has overlooked in nature - he truly had an eye for it.”
