Jules Schyl (1893-1977)

Jules Schyl var målare, grafiker och tecknare. Han utbildades till teckningslärare 1914-17 vid Tekniska skolans högre konstindustriella skola i Stockholm. Efter studier i Köpenhamn knöts han som teckningslärare till Malmö yrkesskolor och han drev under 1920-talet även målarskola i Lund. Tillsammans med några skånska målare startade han konstnärsgruppen "De tolv" och bidrog till den skånska modernismens genombrott. Schyl företog genom åren studieresor till bl a Danmark, Tyskland, Italien, Frankrike och Spanien. Han hämtade ofta sina motiv i musikens och dansens värld men utökade senare sin motivkrets med landskap, stilleben och porträtt.
