Contemporary reversed calf, rubbed but sound, old signatures on title, leaf G2 with small marginal paper flaw resulting in partial loss of two or three words, a few more leaves with very small / insignificant paper corner loss (text unaffected).

Conrad Wolfhart Lycosthenes (1518-1561), a preacher in the church of Saint Leonard and professor of grammar and rhetoric at Basel. He edited classical texts and authored these compilations of thoughts on various ideas. These works (first printed in 1555) were condemned at the Council of Trent
