With 44 beautiful engravings in text. Titles printed in red & black.

Lacking a total of one engraved map and 11 illustrations (nos 45-7, 101, 109-10, 212-13, 253-4, and 262). In a complete copy these illustrations are printed on 114 plates, of which between 106 and 108 are present here, depending on which of the large double-page plates should actually be counted as separate plates. The illustrations on the plates are numbered 1-262, + 11 unnumbered illustrations in volume one, totalling 273 in a complete copy.

A large copy in two volumes, restored contemporary calf, spines renewed, endpapers creased, large folding view of "Moskow" with a 3-cm tear in top part of image, several plates lightly creased where folded. Very light occasional foxing, contents fine as a whole. Bookplate: Holland House; coronetted crest supralibros of Baron Fox on front covers.

Cornelis de Bruijn / Bruyn (1652-17267) was a Dutch artist and traveler who made two large tours and published illustrated books with his observations of people, buildings, plants and animals.
