The new combinations of the armchair, carefully chosen by Norrgavels creative director Inger Wibell Kähr, combine patterns, material and colour with feeling and a sense of now, which is representative of Norrgavels genuine and modern design philosophy.

- It’s incredibly exciting to start the Spring season by presenting a collaboration with Norrgavel through a fantastic piece of design in a new execution, especially developed for Bukowskis. Norrgavel represent sustainable production and timeless design, values we share and cherish, says Louise Arén, CEO Bukowskis

”Länstolen” was first exhibited as a prototype at Bomässan in 1993 and is today a part of National Museums and Nordic Museums collections in Stockholm. World famous restaurant Fäviken Magasinet, Daniel Berlin in Tranås and Kafferosteriet in Österlen are other places around Sweden where you can find the distinct and characteristic armchair.

- ”Länstolen” was a part of me for years and from the first sketches in 1992 it took another three years until it went into production in 1995. The vision was paradoxal, a cocooning shape without being capturing, a comfortable chair that was ascetically simple, a powerful throne that would blend discreetly into the room – large as a wing chair but transparent so that walls and floor would become visible… In the first prototypes the back legs were angled but eventually we managed to construct totally straight, spear-like back legs. The back legs and seat are fixated by the armrests so that the delicate construction is stable, says Nirvana Richter, founder and designer, Norrgavel

”Länstolen” is made from natural materials and has since its launch in 1995 been manufactured by Wigells in the Småland province. To make the soft curved shape of the back and seat, the wood is steamed and then moulded in a steel mould where it is left to dry for weeks. The components are then treated and manufactured into their final shape. The armchair is made from ash and beechwood and the seat and cushions are made from pure down.
