New price record for armchairs by Ephraim Ståhl at the auction today: SEK 392.000.

Outstanding success for Lars-Yngve Johansson’s Collection

Lars-Yngve Johansson, who died this summer at the age of 77, was a man of contradiction. This was reflected in his playful yet qualitative collection and after a viewing week achieving visitor record and having awoken an enormous interest beforehand, Bukowskis is happy to present a great sale success of yet another unforgettable collection.

– The auction of one of this spring's most talked about collections turned out fantastic and Bukowskis is very proud for the grand trust. We are looking forward to continuing the auction season with exceptional collections and new visitor records, says Björn Extergen, Head of Consignment & Sales.

The auction included classical antiques, silver and porcelain, along with an art collection containing portraits of children from the 17th century as well as 1970s artworks by Marie-Louise Ekman. Her work "In the bathroom" achieved a final price high above estimate of SEK 102 000. Bukowskis is also pleased to present a new record for a pair of chairs by Ephraim Ståhl, SEK 392 000, one of the absolute highlights of the auction.

– This is an illustrative example showcasing Lars-Yngves eye for high-end and beautifully shaped furniture. I´m happy that the auction turned out so successful since it is one of the most sought-after armchairs, says Henrik Åberg, Specialist Furniture and Works of Art.

– We are very pleased that Lars-Yngve Johansson's big passion for argent haché has been brought to the light, yet again, and that it was sold at a price high above estimate. The Swedish museums were also represented at the auction and were active bidders, a proof of Lars-Yngve Johansson's impeccable taste, says Carl Barkman Head Specialist Fine Art and Antiques.
