This season's major auction delivers 11 lots exceeding one million SEK

After the Important Winter Sale, Bukowskis can present as much as 11 lots exceeding one million SEK and high final prices for both all departments. It was a two day sale where the absolute best of the best was in focus. The masterpieces, like the biddings, lined up after each other. The highlight in the auction is Carl Fredrik Hill's masterpiece,"Trädet och flodkröken" (The tree and the river bend), which, after intensive bidding, became the auction's most expensive sold works with the outstanding final price of SEK 15 312 000.

The two fantastic watercolours by Carl Larsson,"Hide-and-seek" and Now it's Christmas again, were extremely sought after and both ended high over estimations, respectively 8 942 000 SEK and 6 492 000 SEK. Also August Strindberg's powerful double-sided painting executed on Dalarö in 1892, In the sea band, received great interest, intense bidding and ended up at a total of 9 922 000 SEK. The painting "Den fjortonde juli" (July 14th) by Ernst Josephson, a museum-quality work that during the show days attracted great admiration from several visitors, landed at a final price far above the estimate, 5 512 000 SEK.

– It is surprising to see that there were so many bidders at several of the most expensive works, it shows the strength of the market right now. This auction clearly shows that Bukowskis is the obvious marketplace for classical art, says Andreas Rydén, Head Specialist, Art.

– The market for classical arts and crafts of mastery quality is stronger than ever, says Carl Barkman, Head Specialist Fine Art and Antiques.

Regarding the works of art, it is clear that an exciting background and interesting provenance attracts many bidders and surprisingly high final prices. The highlight of the auction, Carl von Linnaeus' desk, attracted great interest and the price ended well above the announcement, 1 127 000 SEK and became today's first listing cultural treasure. The fact that it is a Swedish institution that bought the desk is of course extra fun,

The greatest bidding fights within the department of works of art, stands for the unique armor that dates back to the 16th century, with a final price of 931 000 SEK, and the Russian porcelain dish from 1923 signed Vasily Porfirjevich, which ended up with a total of 1 053 500 SEK.

– We can see that Swedish culture and cultural history also sell internationally, says Björn Extergren, Head of Consignments and Sales, Fineart.

At the Asian Arts and Works of Art fepartment, some of the absolute highlights were a magnificent folding screen with porcelain tiles that ended up at a total of 612 000 SEK and a beautiful blue-and-white essay bowl, so-called Tazza, which landed at as much as 441 000 SEK. Well worth mentioning is also a Chen Hongshou painting which, after an intense bidding, ended well above the exclamation, and finally landed at a whopping 514 000 SEK.

– Objects made for the Chinese court, so-called Chinese taste, are still sought after and this season too, there was lively bidding for imperial porcelain and high-quality Chinese painting, says Cecilia Nordström, Head Specialist Asian Ceramics & Works of Art.

In the jewelry department, classic jewelry with diamonds and one-stone rings, were sought after with high final prices. Jewellery from the well-known jewelers is still highly demanded. The magnificent tiara was sold after bidding for almost double the asking price and landed on the entire 257 250 SEK
and the beautiful bracelet with provenance from the Nobel family ended at 166 375 SEK.
