"XXXIII23, Kundu Dancers Mount Bosavi, Papua New Guinea", 2017 av Jimmy Nelson

Photograph by Jimmy Nelson at Contemporary Art & Design

Dutch-British artist Jimmy Nelson started working as a photographer in 1987. After 10 years at a Jesuit boarding school in the North of England he set off on his own to cross the length of Tibet on foot in 1985. The journey lasted one year and upon his return his unique visual diary, featuring revealing images of a previously inaccessible Tibet, was published to wide international acclaim. Nelson has today traveled the world for over 30 years to visit and portray indigenous communities in their breathtaking beauty and traditional appearances. His art provides a new perspective on these cultures and the artist aims to inspire humanity and to create a deeper connection with their cultural identity and each other, and to save the world’s cultural and natural heritage for future generations. Nelson has also published two iconic books ”Before They Pass Away” (2013) and ”Homage to Humanity” (2018).

The photograph is for sale at Contemporary Art & Design 17 June and on view 11–15 June at Berzelii Park 1 in Stockholm, Sweden. For questions regarding condition reports, please contact our specialists:
