We have spoken with Louise Wrede, Specialist Contemporary Art, who talks about the selection at this autumn's Contemporary Art & Design. She also takes the opportunity to list some of her favourite objects among the substantial amount of international contemporary art, prints and photography at this spring's auction.

What can we look forward to in this autumn's Contemporary Art & Design auction?

– We have many amazing works, including painting, sculpture, video, photography, graphics and design. The pieces in the auction range from the early 1950s to the present day. Auction shows are always exciting, and you constantly discover new artist names and favourites!

When is the viewing and auction?

Viewing: 21–25 October, Berzelii Park 1, Stockholm.

Open: Mon–Fri 11 AM – 6 PM, Sat–Sun, 11 AM –5 PM.

Auction: 26 October, Arsenalsgatan 2, Stockholm.

Tracey Emin ”Going”

Works that I would like to draw particular attention to in this auction include a work by the ever-present Tracey Emin. It is a gouache on paper purchased directly from her then gallery Lehmann Maupin in London and is a very typical subject painting by Emin.

Lena Cronqvist ”Flicka i badbalja”

Lena Cronqvist has several works in the autumn edition of Contemporary Art & Design, this painted terracotta sculpture stands in a bowl with real sand in it!

Klara Kristalovas ”Behind The Great Forest There Was A Small One”

######In Klara Kristalova's imagery, it is often the girl, nature and animals that move. In the wonderful aquarelle we have in this exhibition, entitled "Behind the Great Forest There Was A Small One", we meet the girl and nature.

Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg ”One Need Not be a House, The Brain Has Corridors”

######The artist duo Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg create mainly animated films, with Djurberg creating the sculptures and Berg composing the music. The film "One Need Not be a House, The Brain Has Corridors" was shown at Djurberg & Berg's major exhibition at Moderna Museet in Stockholm in the summer of 2018. The film also includes the group of sculptures we are selling on 26 October.

Jim Nutt ”Tooth”

######Jim Nutt belongs to the Chicago Imagists, and since the 1980s, his visual world has revolved around imaginary portraits of women. Nutt paints approximately one portrait a year, so his output is not very large. We expect significant interest from the USA.
