World record for top international work with multiple bidders globally

Contemporary Art & Design offered sensational final prices for works by international and Swedish artists such as Jim Nutt, Andy Warhol, David Hockney, as well as Karin Mamma Andersson, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, Barbro Östlihn and Maria Miesenberger. Mats Theselius delivered the design department’s highest final price with a new world record for his iconic easy chair, ”Älgskinnsfåtöljen”.

The design department featured iconic items such as the ”Älgskinnsfåtöljen” easy chair by Mats Theselius and the famous ’Concrete’ chair by Jonas Bohlin. Bukowskis also presented young contemporary designers who attracted a new audiences, such as Hanna Hansdotter, Gustaf Nordenskiöld, Fredrik Nielsen and Attila Suta, whose items were highly sought after.

– Collections are selling exceptionally well at Bukowskis, which is particularly satisfying as they attract attention both in Sweden and internationally. The objects by Mario Bellini and Vladimir Kagan resulted in an intense bidding. It was also great to present Fredrik Nielsen’s powerful ”Purple pitcher”, says Jonatan Jahn, Head Specialist Contemporary and Modern Design.
