International success for Bukowskis Modern Art + Design

International bidders and new world records

Bukowskis has, so far, this autumn, sold art, design and watches at live auctions for a total of 149,1 MSEK and achieved 47 lots sold above 1 MSEK during 2022. A result that strengthens Bukowskis' position as the leading auction house in the Nordic region.

– Interest in international works, with names such as Bernard Buffet, Stefan Gierowski and Victor Vasarely, was strong and shows that Bukowskis attracts bidders globally. It’s fantastic that Evert Lundquist's beautiful painting "Vid Hasselbacken - Nattstyke från Djurgården" achieved a new world record, says Lena Rydén, Head of Art, Specialist Modern and 19th century Art.

Bukowskis continues its tradition of successfully selling collections. Stefan Gierowski's artwork included in the Lars Wetterling Collection Part II achieved an outstanding result and more than quadrupled the estimate with international bidders participating.

Among the auction's Swedish highlights, we saw interesting works by Gösta Adrian-Nilsson, Isaac Grünewald, Sigrid Hjertén and Einar Jolin, as well as intensive bidding for Vera Nilsson.

Gösta Adrian-Nilsson's work "Badande (Sommarkväll)" sold for a final price of SEK 3 078 000.

New world record for the artist Evert Lundquist with the work "At Hasselbacken - Nattstyke från Djurgården", which achieved a final price of 2 506 800 SEK.

Warhol, Fontana, Miró, Matisse, Picasso, Poliakoff and Haring.

–The prints department at Bukowskis continues to attract attention for its engaging content. We see that through a varied and well-curated selection, we reach out to both international collectors and first-time auction buyers, says Marcus Kinge, Specialist Prints.

Consignments are underway for upcoming auctions - the Nordic region's leading Fine Art auction for Modern Art + Design is strengthening its position with increasing international interest.

The results show that Bukowskis, together with Bonhams Network, reaches an international audience and has a selection that attracts buyers and sellers of the highest calibre.
