Pierre Sterlé Shines at Important Winter Sale

During the live auction, Important Winter Sale, a collection of jewellery by the French jeweller Pierre Sterlé was presented, with provenance from the world-renowned collector Carl Kempe. The collection far exceeded expectations, achieving double its estimated value, with a final total price nearing 2 million SEK.

Pierre Sterlé was a prominent French jeweller, known for his innovative and artistic approach to jewellery design during the mid-20th century. Sterlé began his career in the 1930s and quickly gained recognition for his unique ability to blend elegance with an avant-garde sensibility. His designs were characterised by soft, nature-inspired shapes such as feathers, leaves, and birds, often featuring intricate details and movement. Throughout his career, Sterlé worked for prestigious maisons such as Chaumet and Boucheron before opening his own atelier in Paris in 1934. He became a favourite among high society, nobility, and royalty, renowned for his exquisite craftsmanship and bold creativity.

The jewellery offered in the auction came from the well-known collector Carl Kempe's collection. Highlights included a gold and platinum bracelet set with round brilliant-cut diamonds and a gold and platinum ring featuring a pink faceted sapphire and diamonds. The latter exceeded seven times its estimate, selling for a final price of 700,000 SEK.
