Important Winter Sale Presents a Magnificent Donation to Medical Research

Bukowskis has been entrusted with the sale of items from a private collection of high-quality silver, generously donated to the Karolinska Institute (KI) to support medical research.

The collection is the result of a lifelong passion for Swedish silver and spans the golden era of Swedish silversmithing, from the late 17th century to around 1800. Several of the great silversmiths are represented, including Johan Lund, Johan Dragman, Jakob Lampa, Arvid Castman, Jonas Thomasson Ronander, and Pehr Zethelius. The pieces have been selected with exceptional discernment, and many have previously belonged to renowned collectors such as Falk Simon and Sten Westerberg Sr., as well as David Hildebrand’s extensive silver chambers.

Among the highlights are Johan Lund’s parcel-gilt silver beaker from 1697; the rare lidded beaker by Anders Limnell in late Barock, Arvid Castman’s sugar casket, as well as the pair of sugar bowls by Wittkopf and Zethelius represents Swedish Rococo at its best. The collection comprises lot numbers 251, 255, 257, 258, 270, 271, 282, 283, 284, 287, 288, 289, 290, 292, 295, 297, and 307

his generous donation is intended to support research into kidney disease, diabetes, and cancer. The hammer prices of the items will be donated in full to the Karolinska Institute.
