Lennart Olausson

Lennart Olausson is a Swedish painter and graphic artist, born in Stockholm in 1944. He studied at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design and the Royal Institute of Art, and has worked as an artist since the 1960s.

Olausson’s art is distinguished by his keen interest in light, form and detail. His paintings move between the recognisable and the dreamlike, allowing familiar subjects to take on new and sometimes unexpected meanings. His work combines a precise, realistic approach with influences from art history and a strong sense of narrative.

Throughout his long career, Olausson has exhibited at numerous prominent galleries, art centres and museums across Sweden. His work is represented in collections including those of Moderna Museet, the Nationalmuseum and the Public Art Agency Sweden. He has also created public artworks in several locations throughout Stockholm.

Through his distinctive visual language and his fascination with the possibilities of painting, Lennart Olausson has established a unique position within contemporary Swedish art. His works invite the viewer to pause, explore the details and consider for themselves what might lie beyond what first meets the eye.
