Stig Lindberg (1916–1982) is one of Sweden's most beloved and appreciated designers. After studying at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, he began working at Gustavsbergs Porcelain Factory. Between 1940 and 1957, he worked as the factory's artistic director.
The popular series "Carnival" was introduced in 1957 and is made in a faience cover with a blue-tinted glaze. "Carnival" has a playful and colourful decor, and the motifs are recognizable from Stig Lindberg's characteristic world of figures.
