With nature as a motif - landscape in Scandinavian 19th century painting. Landscape painting, especially the French plein air painting during the 19th century, was crucial for the development of art history. Many artists travelled to France to learn more about this art form during this period. In this theme, we present landscape paintings from the 1850s and onwards, where you can see how the artists' motifs changed and developed.
