Contemporary Design still strong at this evenings auction

Swedish designers Jonas Bohlin and Mats Theselius are some of the contemporary design worlds brightest shining stars which was evident at this evenings auction. Bohlin’s iconic armchair ”Concrete” in concrete and iron was sold for 159 375 SEK and Theselius early aluminum armchair with a light birch-bark seat, which was only made in an edition of 50, ended up at a final price of 76 500 SEK.

- Many of our clients are interested in both art and design and with this seasons auction we wanted to offer an inspirational mix of the best from the 50’s and onwards. A sale and viewing where art and design found synergies, which was very appreciated by our clients, says Eva Seeman, Specialist Design and 20th Century Works of Art Department.

Paavo Tynells beautiful brass table lamp with a final price of 73 500 SEK shows the strong interest in lighting with a look that is characteristic for its time; and was alongside Greta Grossmans black ”Grasshopper” lamp which was sold for 36 750 SEK, a type of design that still shines bright.

The auction also offered a carefully curated selection of vintage furniture where the largest demand was for Hans J. Wegners Flag Halyard chair which was sold for 208 250 SEK. A particularly well preserved pair of ”Sälen” easy chairs by IB Kofod Larsen in black leather were sold for 98 000 SEK and together they symbolize the high quality of the Design section.
