The world of art offers a glimpse of light through these turbulent times

Two exciting collections were successfully sold at Bukowskis during the month of March.

Bukowskis can once again present nice results for the recently performed Fine Art auction online, "Modernism after 1945", an art collection built around artists such as Öyvind Fahlström, Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, Eric Grate, Albert Johansson, Lage Lindell and Barbro Bäckström, to name a few. The private collection included around 70 pieces of art with estimates ranging from SEK 3000-150,000 and with great interest among our bidders and virtual visitors in the virtual viewing room. This sale along with the result of the successful hammer auction of the Löwenadler Collection is a sign of continued high demand for quality art as an alternative investment.

Looking back at the economic downturns that have affected the world during the dot-com bubble in the year 2000 and the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008, one can conclude that art prices have remained stable even during these periods. The signs we have seen in spring 2020 show the same trend. Many collectors have recently contacted us with inquiries about the significant works that will be released in connection with the spring's major hammer auctions, says Andreas Rydén, Head Specialist, Art.

Bukowskis is proud of our customers continued trust in our capability to sell fine art and design and will continue to do everything we can to keep offering glimpses of light in these chaotic times.

For this spring's Contemporary Art & Design auction we can already present Andy Warhol's iconic work "Chanel", from the portfolio "Ads", from 1985 (Read more about this exciting work and its background here). The Modern Art + Design auction presents significant works by Sigrid Hjertén and Nils Dardel while the Important Spring Sale, presents significant works by, among others, Anders Zorn and Helmer Osslund has.
