"I början av 80-talet, då De Unga Vilda var på tapeten, trädde Roger Risberg fram. Han visade sig vara den ende som på svensk grund kunde göra anspråk på epitetet. Hans målningar var starka och direkta. Och utan teoretisk återhållsamhet. Han tecknade sig från början gärna som olika djur, t ex en örn. Ensam, utsatt. Ett starkt tema var kärleken, tvåsamheten, övergivenheten. En rosa idyllisk form kunde målas över brutalt". (Thomas Millroth)
