BUYING AT BUKOWSKIS
Buying at Bukowskis is simple and enjoyable. Unlike your average shop, auction sales ensure that the final price is wholly transparent. If you buy something at auction you pay the exact sum that the demand for the item deems to be correct. And you avoid the shopkeeper’s subjective pricing. You also have the advantage of being able to decide yourself how far you want to go in the bidding. And the fact that all the items we put up for sale have been valued by our own experts means that you can feel more secure than if you purchase ‘privately’.
Bukowskis is Scandinavia’s leading firm of auctioneers and we conclude hundreds of purchases and sales every hour. We have the long experience that guarantees both buyers and sellers a secure transaction.
Here is some practical advice!
Here you will find both items that are for sale online as well as artworks and other artefacts that are for sale at our live or hammer auctions in Stockholm. The latter items are presented both in our online catalogue and, for a number of days, at our elegant showrooms at Berzelii Park right in the middle of Stockholm. Keep an eye open for our regular auctions which are held six times a year. In Helsinki certain auctions are presented by means of an exhibition and are then sold online.
Step 1 – How can I find what I am looking for?
Let yourself be inspired: Remain on our starting page. Auctions are in progress all the time and all items up for sale are sorted according to ‘Shortest time left’. You can take part in the bidding just as soon as you find something that you like. All that is needed is that you have registered as a Bukowskis customer before you start bidding.
How to find what you are looking for. You know exactly what you want by a specific artist or designer. Search by name, for example ‘Stig Lindberg’.
You can mark your favourites by clicking on the heart symbol on the object. Your favourites are added to a list that you will find on your ‘My Bukowskis’ page which is your personal space. You can also have a reminder sent to you before the auction of an item in your list ends.
Do you want us to keep track of artefacts for you? If you click on ‘Save search’ we will keep track of the item for you. Once every 24 hours we will send you an email with newly arrived items that match your search.
Step 2 –Time for a bid.
Have you found something in our online auction? You can place a bid immediately if you are already a registered Bukowskis customer. You can register here without any obligation to purchase in the future. As a registered customer you also receive our newsletter and have access to large and detailed photographs of items that are of interest. And you can keep track of items and save your search words. Before you make a bid you need to read the description of the item very carefully and note the town from which it will be transported. Check that the amount shown is correct and is as you intended.
You get two opportunities to confirm your purchase. Note that all bids are binding. The successful purchaser is also liable for commission charges and auction fees. Droit de suite is applicable in connection with certain artworks.
Maximum bid. Register your maximum bid for the item. Our automatic bidding service will take care of everything else. Every time that a new customer makes a new bid, the automatic service adds the smallest possible incremental bid up to your limit.
Notification. You can choose to be notified by email or to be ‘pushnotified’ (APN)via your iPhone if you have installed our app and you do not have the leading bid for an item that you have placed bids for. Or you can be notified when an item on your favourites list is getting close to the end of bidding.
Are you curious about our hammer auctions? These take place on a number of occasions each year at our auction rooms in Stockholm’s Berzelii Park. Here, too, you can participate in the sale online or you can phone in a request for our staff to bid for you. Of course it is most fun to attend the sale in person and register a ‘Paddle’ that you can bid with. Have you never tried bidding at a hammer auction? We’ll be pleased to help you. Ring us on +44 (0)8 614 08 00 (Stockholm) or +358-9-668 91 10
Participate in the auction in real time.
We will bid in the auction on your behalf according to your written instructions.
Step 3 – CONGRATULATIONS, YOU WON!
After the sale you pay for the item via ‘My Bukowskis’ or an Internet bank. If you have placed a winning bid at a hammer auction you can also pay at the cash desk.
On your ‘My Bukowskis” page you will find information about how you pay for your purchases and how you can collect them or order transportation. Every week we transport customers’ items from our salerooms to our showrooms in Stockholm, Vantaa pickup-point in Finland, Gothenburg and Malmö. Delivery time is generally about 1 – 3 weeks.
We can also arrange door-to-door delivery to your home or to an agent in your vicinity. Now we have lowered the prices of home delivery by up to 25% through a new cooperation. On the item page, you can calculate what it costs to have it delivered to your home.
