More information

Chopard was founded in 1867 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard at the age of 24. Chopard initially concentrated on developing precise pocket watches and chronometers based upon innovative ideas. In 1920 Chopard relocated in Geneva and launched into the production of quality watches.

1n 1963 Karl Scheufele, a young goldsmith and watchmaker, took over the Chopard company as Paul-André Chopard was forced to give up the business since his sons, following other careers, refused to manage the business.

Karl Scheufele contributed to the modernization of the company and added the jewellery segment ni to the Chopard production. The first boutiques were opened in Hong Kong, Geneva and Vienna in the 1980's and ever since high quality jewellery has been a self evident part of the Chopard business.
