Walnut and brass mounted. The dial face and engraved clockwork marked "Eardley Norton London 1084". Height 47, width 34, depth 22 cm.

The top brass finials missing, the silvered chapter ring with wear.

Provenance

Purchased in Russia circa 1915 by the seller's great grandmother.

Eardley Norton var en av de skickligaste urmakarna i London under 1700-talets andra hälft. Hans astronomiska ur, automatiska ur med klockspel och kronometrar vann berömmelse. Han hade en betydande export till Skandinavien och Ryssland. Han levererade ur bl.a. till Georg III av England och Katarina II av Ryssland.
