Efter studier i hemlandet Slovakien på Zelezný Brod och Academy of Applied Arts i Prag har Z. varit verksam och bl.a. undervisat i glaskonst i Frankrike sedan 1970. Han är mest känd för sina abstrakta glasskulpturer i optiskt slipat glas.
