Arkitekt. Har samarbetat med många olika producenter, t.e.x. Alessi, AVMazzega, Ceramica Bardelli, Frag, Fratelli Boffi, Poltronova, Slamp and Varaschin.
Coates design finns representerad på flera internationella muséer, t.ex. Victoria & Albert Museum, Cooper Hewitt.
Professor of Architecture at the Royal College of Art, London, sedan år 1995.
