More information

"... the best of Penn's prints speak for themselves, shadows reflected in platinum and palladium. These precious coatings, brushed on by the photographer, lend his large prints an opalescent luster, their objects mirrored toward a new solemnity and iridescence. Almost devotional in their intencity, Penn's deceptively modest images are bathed in a haunting yet caressing light, whose abundance is in direct contrast to the subject illuminated. His is a transcendental sermon of the immaterial over the material."
Ur "Irving Penn. platinum prints", 2005.
