"After taking hundreds of pictures of Naomi Campbell for Italian Vogue in Palm Springs, California, Watson noticed that the supermodel was cooling off, waiting in the shade for him. Watson recalls, ' I looked over there and she was under an umbrella - right there I knew that was the shot, how perfect her head was in that raw sunlight'. The strong line of this composition delineates Campbell's remarkable profile, like an eighteenth-century silhouette."
