The book was originally compiled by Lu Dalin in 1092, and is one of the earliest Chinese catalogues of antiquities, depicting numerous archaic bronze vessels, and jades from the imperial and private collections of Northern Song dynasty. No copy of the first edition have survived, and several editions have been printed during later dynasties.
