The "Sunko-roku" Satsuma was made by Korean potterers who were imported. From Tack Osama's expeditions to Korea in 1598. About 1630 one of them, Boku, discovered white clay in Tatesco, Satsuma. The manufacture of the Sunko-roku or bronze painted ware, commenced between 1630-1643.
