A doucai dish, Qing dynasty, with Tongzhis six character mark and period (1862-74).

Interior decorated with the eight daoist symbols. The outside with floral motif. Diameter 20,5 cm.

Provenance

From the Collection of Carl-Fredrik Eriksson (1878-1943). CF Eriksson were employed by Svenska Diamantborrnings Aktiebolaget and came too travel the world where is expertise in drilling and mining were needed, he worked in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, China and Japan amongst other places. He lived and worked in China during 1914-1917 when he acquired these pieces. He is well mentioned by his Swedish contemporaries in China and were good friends and colleagues with men such as Johan Gunnar Andersson, Dr F Tegengren and Gustaf Wallenberg. He worked with Johan Gunnar Andersson for the Chinese government in trying to find ore deposits. The Chinese called him “the quite man in the forrest”.
