Med en stark fascination för ockultism och esoterika är det närmast självklart att Frederik Söderberg skulle finna inspiration hos Aleister Crowley, en av den engelska litteraturens främsta provokatörer. Genom sitt måleri uppnår och skildrar Söderberg ett slags trancendens. I sina akvareller, utförda men en hypnotisk detaljrikedom och häpnadsväckande hantverk, närmar sig Söderberg det översinnliga. Det groteska förenas med det sublima.
