A RUG. An antique silk Kashan so called Motachem. 202,5 x 136,5 cm.
An ivory ground with a polychrome decor of a medallion, cloud bands, stylized palmette and flower festoons as well as corner ornaments. A wide camel hair coloured main border with large palmette, flower and leaf vines. A silk warp in alternately ivory and pale yellow. An unusual and esthetically advanced colour scale.
Partly some wear, slightly dirty, minor stains. The sides have minor fold wear, one side has a repair, two corners have minor damages.

From an old home belonging to a former minister with very nice antique silver, furniture, Chinese works of Art etc. in Helsinki, Finland.
