Steve McCurrys "Afghan Girl, Pakistan" är ett av världens mest välkända fotografier sedan det pubicerades på omslaget av National Geographic Magazine i juni 1985. Bilden har också blivit känd genom Amnestybroschyrer och kalendrar. Flickan med de gröna ögonen heter Sharbat Gula, hennes identitet förblev okänd i över femton år tills McCurry och National Geographic tillsammans lyckades hitta henne 2002. Då möttes de igen och National Geographic publicerade en artikel om hennes livsöde tillsammans med nytagna bilder av Steve McCurry.
