More information

Med förenkling som signum i både färg och form är Julian Opies målningar direkt igenkännbara. Den brittiske konstnären slog igenom på 1980-talet och har sedan dess renodlat sitt konstnärliga språk. Inspirerad av popkonst, minimalism, klassisk porträttkonst och japanska träsnitt har Opie framförallt arbetat med porträtt och i det minimalistiska uttrycket på ett lysande sätt fångat den enskilda personens karaktärsdrag.
Julian Opie är ständigt aktuell och under 2016 har han haft separatutställningar i Genéve, Wien, Berlin och Tokyo. Han finns representerad i flera betydelsefulla samlingar bland annat Museum of Modern Art, New York, National Portrait Gallery, London, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam och Tate Collection, London.
