A pair of Chinese massive lacquered Buddhist lions, first half of the 20th Century.

Each seated on a waisted rectangular base draped with a florette-diaper cloth, the head held back and jaw open in snarling expression beneath a thick mane falling in tight curly tufts, a collar around the broad chest hung with a bell and tassels, each with one leg raised and a ball and cub beneath the forepaw. Height 157x98x63 cm.

Wear, cracks from dryness of materia. Later tassles.
