Gilt bronze, white and black marble. White enamel dial. Dial and clockwork marked "Mignolet A Paris" (Joseph M. master in Paris 1786). Signed under number six at the edge of the dial "Coteau" (Joseph C. 1740-1801, famous enameler). Length 58, width 19, height 73 cm.

Joseph Coteau (1740-1801) blev mästare som emaljmålare 1766 i Genève. Under 1770- och 80-talet var han verksam i Paris där hans emaljmåleri blev mycket eftertraktat. Han dekorerade urtavlor och porslinsplaketter på påkostade bordspendyler, däribland en bordspendyl till Marie Antionette för hennes slott St Cloud. Coteau utvecklade emaljfärger så att de efterliknande ädelstenar. Han arbetade även för Sèvres. Coteaus arbeten är sällsynta och återfinns mest på påkostade bordspendyler med rika bronsarbeten.
