Efter konststudier i hemstaden Madrid i början av 1900-talet flyttade Francisco Borès till Paris 1925. I hemlandet, där han var medlem i Ultraist-rörelsen, hade hans första utställning ”The first Exhibition of Iberian Artists inte alls gått hem hos besökarna. I Paris blev han vän med Henri Matisse, Picasso, Juan Gris och Gargallo och kom i kontakt med de tongivande konsthandlarna Jacques Berheim och Léonce Rosenberg. Borès första utställning ägde rum på Galerie Pierre & Percier och blev en betydligt större publik- och kritikersuccé än i Spanien.
Bores påverkades starkt av såväl klassicism som kubism och konstruktivism. I hans konst inte bara smälte han samman dessa –ismer utan tänjde på gränserna och tog dem ett steg längre.
På grund av spanska inbördeskriget och andra världskriget kom Borès framför allt att verka i Paris under hela sitt liv.
Francisco Borés finns bland annat representerad på New York's Museum of Modern Art, the National Art Centre Georges Pompidou i Paris och Reina Sofia National Art Centre i Madrid.
