A bronze circular mirror with animals and inscription, Sui/early Tang dynasty (6th-7th Century).

The thick mirror finely cast in high relief with four lively animals racing around the knob within a sawtooth border below the circular ridge that separates the main field from an inscription set below a sawtooth band in the deep sides of the outer rim. Diameter 9,1 cm.

Wear, tarnished.

Provenance

From the Collection of antique dealer Sten Röing (1880-1965), the collection was added to by his son Max Röing (1916-1984) during the 1950-60's, thence by descent.
