Opal glass shade with brass details, total height 104 cm, the shade height 38 cm, diameter ca 40 cm.

Minor chips, ceiling cup with cut out part, patina due to age.

Designer

Carl-Axel Acking (1910-2001) was an architect and designer. Acking is considered one of the most influential designers and architects in Sweden during the 1930s-50s. Acking's furniture and lighting fixtures have been manufactured by, among others, Stockholms Hantverksförening, Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors and KF. He also had an important role in Nordiska Kompaniet's furniture department during the 1940-50s, where he designed the iconic 'Trienna' chair, among other things. Acking had an early breakthrough at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937, and had many prestigious assignments in the following years. Acking was one of the main architects behind the exhibition H55 i Helsingborg and held significant positions within the Swedish architect and design world.
