More information

Hilma Persson-Hjelm, ceramicist, porcelain painter, etc. Educated in Stockholm and worked at Rörstrand in the years 1900-1906 together with Alf Wallander, Anna Boberg, Karl Lindström and Waldemar Lindström. After a study trip through Denmark, Germany, England and France, Hilma returned to the family estate at Lake Racken in Värmland. She married in 1909 with the ceramicist Rolf Hjelm and they worked together in the workshop. Often the objects were turned by a local craftsman and then Hilma made the surface decorations.
From 1907 Hilma recorded and numbered all of her items in sketch books. This resulted in over 9000 sketches, which today are found in the Rackstad Museum.
