The composition is known in several versions, attributed to both Flemish and Italian artists, including two paintings in the Galleria Sabauda, Turin, both dated to the second half of the 16th century (see N. Gabrielli, Maestri Italiani, 1971, nos. 544 and 546, figs. 190 and 192).
