Stamped to reverse Ving Tai Portrait Maker. Oil on canvas laid on panel. Depciting a view of the Hongs of Canton, the church and the busy waterfront. The following flags are visable USA, French, Danish, and Enlgish. Measurment motif 45x77 cm. Mesurement with frame 58x90 cm.

Damages restorations.

Provenance

Purchased at Bukowskis Sale 446, lot 468 autumn 1986, then one of a set of five from a Swedish private collection.

More information

The frames are of the type 'chinese chippendale', used during the mid 19th Century from 1830-1880.
The land for the church was purchased in May 1847, and the church was erected shortly thereafter, this helps us date the painting.
