A pair of famille rose European Subject dinner plats with elephants, Qing dynasty, Qianlong (1736-95).

Decorated with an elephant to the center and his keeper. Diameter 23 cm.

Provenance

There are some known services with this motif made for the Indian market, some of the were shipped to England through Madras and Bombay. There are three different border pattern known with the elephant and his trainer, they were made between 1760-1790.
